As well as being an important interchange station, Crewe is home to a number of employers, including the Crewe Business Park, Caudwell Logistics, Bentley Motors and Manchester Metropolitan University. Crewe Alexandra FC is a 5 minute walk away, whilst the Crewe Heritage Centre, which is open on weekends from Easter 2009, celebrates the towns heritage and is a 20 minute walk from the station. Rail passengers get a two for the price of one offer to the Heritage Centre with valid rail tickets.
One stop away from Crewe on the line to Shrewsbury is Nantwich, a pleasant market town, which regularly hosts farmers markets, food and drink events and music festivals.
