Ellesmere Port developed when commercial trading commenced along the Shropshire Union Canal and later the Manchester Ship Canal.

The NATIONAL WATERWAYS MUSEUM portrays the life of boatmen and women and shows how things were when Ellesmere Port was a great dock complex. Many of the original buildings have been preserved together with a unique collection of traditional canal craft.

Spring is a special time at RIVACRE VALLEY LOCAL NATURE RESERVE, when the woodlands are truly stunning.  Later in the year you can picnic in the colourful meadows, or if you're feeling energetic, have a go at the orienteering course.  There is a good network of paths around the reserve and a busy programme of special events throughout the year.

ELLESMERE PORT GOLF CLUB offers immaculate greens, challenging sand bunkers and tricky fairway landscaping that make for a really enjoyable round of golf.
